About MLP

Hi there! I’m Megan Lathem, the heart behind MLP. I live in Madison, Alabama with my husband, our three kids, and our furry crew. I’m originally from Beckley, West Virginia—and no matter where life takes me, I’ll always be a WV girl at heart.

I love Jesus, my family, and all things creative. Most days you’ll find me homeschooling my kiddos with a Milo’s tea, Dr Pepper Zero, or iced coffee nearby. I’m a night owl who’s either staying up way too late working on the latest creative thing I just have to do… or completely vegging out with a crime show, mystery, or chick flick. There’s really no in-between.

I’m definitely an introvert—writing an “About Me” isn’t exactly my favorite thing—but they say you might want to know a little about the person behind the camera, so here we are!

Creativity has always been a big part of my life. My background is in Interior Design and Education, and before photography, I spent years working in the kitchen, bath, and lighting industries and later in the classroom. Through all of it, though, I was pretty much always the friend with a camera in hand.

When my first child was born, my love for photography grew into something more. I wanted to capture everything—every milestone, every smile, every fleeting little detail. Eventually, that love of documenting my own family grew into what MLP is today, and now I get to help other families preserve those moments, too.
